The YMCA of Greater Richmond is seeking a motivated, cause-driven Director of Annual Giving to develop and execute a comprehensive Association-wide Annual Giving Plan incorporating fundraising best practices.

Last year, over 3,500 contributors gave more than $4 million to the YMCA of Greater Richmond to fund its programs and services.  Nearly 300 volunteers gave their time to support YMCA development efforts throughout Richmond and Petersburg.  In addition, the YMCA has a comprehensive philanthropy program that includes capital and endowment development.

DUTIES

The Director of Annual Giving incorporates fundraising best practices and principles to support the raising of funds through individual campaigns in the YMCA of Greater Richmond branches and the Association Resource Center (ARC). Duties and responsibilities include: 

  • Develop, coordinate, and manage Association-wide annual campaign process, volunteers, and management.
  • Support board volunteers and Association Annual Campaign Chair in their development activities through training and coaching.
  • Correspond and communicate regularly with donors and prospective donors about program updates, mission-related "Y Stories," upcoming events, and appreciation for their support. Ensure accurate, timely, gracious acknowledgment of all Annual Campaign contributions.
  • Evaluate and report progress of the annual campaign throughout the YMCA Association, identifying and responding to challenges as they arise. Compile and analyze data to provide information needed to grow the campaign and increase fundraising effectiveness. Create and generate fundraising reports as needed. 

QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor's degree is required, as well as at least three years of progressively responsible experience in development. Specific experience managing a personal solicitation process within an annual giving program is needed, with a demonstrated record of achieving annual giving revenue targets. Experience working closely with high net worth individuals and corporate and community leaders is necessary. Position requires excellent communication and organization skills, initiative, and the ability to meet goals and timelines with minimal supervision. Must be proficient with all Microsoft Office applications and possess strong computer skills. Knowledge of Blackbaud's RE7 is a plus.  Ability to work early mornings, evenings and/or weekends required. Successful candidate should be self-directed and able to work with little or no direct supervision in a deadline-driven environment. Demonstrated professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
